Formed in 1998, Industrial Railway Switching & Services Inc. was created to provide professional third-party intra-plant switching services for manufacturing and processing plants. Formed by a group of railroaders with extensive backgrounds in both Class 1 and shortline railroads and experience in locomotive repair, IRSS has the necessary knowledge to fulfill your switching needs.
Under the leadership of Larry McCloud and his 25 years of switching experience including positions at CSXT and Rail America, IRSS stormed into the market by capturing the switching services for US Steel/Lorain Tubular in Lorain, OH. From there, IRSS added operations in four other states, with locations in agriculture, chemical, and intermodal industries. By adopting an unlimited move philosophy, IRSS was able to greatly reduce demurrage costs and increase efficiency.
